Information Technology Services
The Information Technology Services Division comprises the Information Technology (IT) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) departments.

The IT department is responsible for the selection, deployment and operation of computer and network technology throughout the city's facilities.  The division staff of technicians and programmers maintain over 200 workstations as well as the city's IBM AS/400 mainframe. In addition, the division operates the telecommunications system and fulfills the city's local-area and wide-area networking needs. The division also staffs a help desk to assist end-users with email, network and application software support.

The GIS department is charged with the identification, collection and maintenance of key geographic data within the city. GIS combines data such as utilities, infrastructure, buildings, land records, geographic features and topography, demographics and others in a way that is useful to government and community leadership. GIS data is an essential resource for economic development. GIS data is used in several city departments, including General Services, Utilities, Planning, Public Works, and the City Attorney’s Office. Our GIS Division also works with its counterparts at the McKinley County GIS Division.
