The City of Gallup wishes to advise its utility customers to be on alert for a consumer scam. Recently, several customers have reported receiving phone calls from a 1-888 number demanding payment for a delinquent utility bill to be paid through a money gram system to prevent the shutoff of utility services. Although the City of Gallup will call its customers to remind them to pay their accounts, the City will never ask for payments to be made through a money gram system at a local store and the City of Gallup does not collect payments in the field. Should the City of Gallup contact its customers regarding their accounts, the caller identification will state that the call is from the “City of Gallup (505) 863-1298.” If you would like to make a payment by phone, please follow the instructions below. You can also make a payment online at https://utilities.gallupnm.gov. If you have any questions regarding your account, please contact the City’s Utility Customer Care Division at 863-1201.
